The 26th Annual Acadia Art Exhibition
Hunter Gillis, Acadia University Art Gallery

For the past 26 years, the Acadia University Art Gallery has opened itself up to submissions from Acadia students, alumni, faculty, and members of our community. The Annual Acadia Art Exhibition is an important event that celebrates creativity in our community. It provides a public forum to explore both the work of both new and established artists. The exhibit contains a wide range of artwork that allows visitors to view the creative talent that members of our community possess.

A total of 308 people of all ages and backgrounds came to the Art Gallery for the opening reception. This shows the power that art has in bringing people together to create a sense of interconnectedness and belonging.

The diverse gathering of work included in our 26th Annual Acadia Art Exhibition appeals to almost every interest as the exhibit contains artwork created through various mediums and artistic styles. The themes on display range from nautical scenes of waves crashing on rocks to peaceful blue seas watched over by the gaze of a lighthouse. Pieces include work that depict the natural beauty of the world around us, as well as works that beautifully present the people and animals that populate our world. From simple works that display the intricate beauty of flowers, to more abstract paintings, it is guaranteed there will be something here that appeals to all viewers.
The Art Gallery prides itself on being able to present and celebrate the visual creativity of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the community at large. This exhibit will be on from now until March 1, 2017. The gallery will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays but open on Wednesdays (Noon-7pm) and Thursdays to Sundays (Noon-4pm). Make sure not to miss this great exhibit which contains artwork from people that call our local community home.
