The Portal is Looking for Host Homes
Submitted
A host home is a place where a youth experiences belonging, and a sense of family and community. The program helps youth to overcome both past and present challenges and to know there is help ready for them when they feel powerless. With other supports, a host home provides a consistent supportive atmosphere, encouraging a commitment to maturity and taking responsibility for oneself.
Calling all new and existing host homes–mark it in your calendar. On the third Thursday of every month we are coming together to meet at the Portal, #6- 440 Main Street in Kentville. Come at 6pm for our Host Home Program information session: a time to learn more about the program, ask questions, apply to become a host home, and to meet the Portal staff. If you are already a host home, stop in at 7pm for a chance to network with one another. Our first meeting will be April 18. Hope to see you there! portalyouth.ca; 902-365-3773.
