Symphony Nova Scotia With Star Pianist Sara Davis Buechner
By François Côté
Sara Davis Buechner is a multi-award-winning, internationally beloved pianist. Experience her jaw-dropping virtuosity live in Symphony Nova Scotia’s first-ever performance of Dvořák’s deeply challenging, rarely heard Piano Concerto – alongside a special performance of Litolff’s galloping, devilish, near-impossible Scherzo. Plus, hear one of Tchaikovsky’s most inspired masterpieces, the breathtaking Serenade for Strings.
Noted for her musical command, cosmopolitan artistry, and visionary independence, Sara Davis Buechner is one of the most original concert pianists of our time. Lauded for her “intelligence, integrity and all-encompassing technical prowess†(The New York Times), “thoughtful artistry in the full service of music†(The Washington Post), and “astounding virtuosity†(Philippine Star), Japan’s InTune magazine sums up: “Buechner has no superior.â€
As a proud transgender woman, Sara also appears as a speaker and performer at important LGBTQ events and has contributed interviews and articles about her own experience to numerous media outlets worldwide. Sara is a dual American-Canadian citizen who makes her home in Philadelphia.
At this concert, the Acadia Performing Arts Series will also officially release its 2019-20 season, and subscriptions will go on sale. With nine performances, the Series will run from September 2019 to April 2020.
