We love to hear from our readers. If you’ve got a story idea, an event to promote, or a comment on one of our issues, always feel free to get in touch. We recently got an email from a reader, someone new to the Valley, who just wanted to let us know that he’d been enjoying the newspaper and how it has been helping him get acclimatized to his new town and stay informed about community happenings. Well, that’s pretty much job done for us! Last year, we spent a good amount of time trying to articulate exactly what it is that we want to do with this newspaper. In the end we came up with this: “We aim to connect our readers with the stories, event listings, and community news to help build and support our local thriving culture.” I think that we could easily add in there something about welcoming newcomers. At this particular moment in time, I would love to imagine our little newspaper helping in some way to make someone, anyone, new to this Valley feel a little bit more connected, more a part of things, more at home. There’s so much to discover in our Valley. If our Best of the Bunch survey is any indication, the reasons why people love it here are clearly diverse and numerous! Speaking of which, someday very soon, you might start seeing our Best of the Bunch stickers popping up on storefronts. We’re excited to celebrate those businesses, organizations, and places that were chosen by our readers this year. If you see that sticker, you are pretty much guaranteed to be in for a good time. Wherever you are, your neighbours highly recommended it!
